Capturing Design Through the Lens: Photographing a Cosmetic Practice for Clune Construction

Cosmedica Dermatology in Washington, DC

Photographing a cosmetic practice in Washington, DC for Clune Construction offered a unique challenge. With most spaces unstaged, it became essential to shift my focus entirely to the design and craftsmanship. Instead of relying on props or decor, I looked for the story in angles, materials, and light.

Navigating Unstaged Spaces

Unstaged spaces can feel limited at first, but they also present an opportunity to focus on the essentials. The sleek counters, polished finishes, and interplay of light provided an authentic canvas to work with. I leaned heavily on creative composition, using unique angles and framing to highlight the precision of Clune Construction’s work.

Adapting on the Fly

Without the luxury of staging, adaptability became my greatest tool. Limited natural light required thoughtful use of artificial lighting and camera adjustments. Balancing aesthetics with the practicality of a working space was also key to capturing its dual function as both professional and welcoming.

Final Thoughts

This project reminded me that some of the most striking images come from simplicity. By focusing on details, angles, and adaptability, I created a gallery that honored both the beauty and purpose of this space.
